ROGUE STAR By Cameron Cooper

I was thrilled to find out that a new entry in the Hammer Down series was coming out! I was so excited to see what new tangles Danny Andela had gotten herself into — or out of — and you won’t be disappointed, even though you can never tell with Danny. It could go either way. For me, that’s half the charm of these books. I absolutely adore reading books where I can’t tell what’s coming next, and Rogue Star is a standout example. Whenever I thought I had a grip on what was about to happen (and given the slowly ratcheting tension throughout this book, having a solid grip is an excellent plan), I found myself surprised, once again, by the author’s incredibly intricate plotting skills. Absolutely wonderful! You don’t have to have read any of the previous books to be able to immerse yourself in Danny’s world, as amazingly detailed as it is. Believe me when I say it is very easy to become fully invested in this character.

I found Cameron Cooper’s books when the two previous series that feature Danny Andela were already complete – a real win for a voracious reader who has just discovered the motherlode of space opera — and I raced through the Imperial Hammer and Iron Hammer series. (If you haven’t read them yet, they are terrific! And, yes, you do get used to having a parawolf around, although her smile is still scary.) I was all-in by the time Hammer Down premiered, and am happy to say that Rogue Star is another wonderful entry in the ongoing saga of Danny’s adventures. Grab this book, make sure you’ve got a comfortable chair, and jump right in. It’s a lollapalooza of a story!

Rogue Star HAMMER DOWN | BOOK 2 by Cameron Cooper is an amazing space opera, science fiction story featuring Danny Andela as the protagonist.
You will find in-depth world building. Well-developed and realistic characters. Credible personal situations.
I do feel sorry for Dusk, Danny’s parawolf, who cannot stay with Danny until Danny has rectified the entire situation. Of course that will take time as Danny navigates complex personal and political situations.
This is a great story that you will love. I am really looking forward to the next book.

Cameron Cooper does it again, and leaves the story hanging at the end to leave the reader dangling on the edge for the next installment. Danny Andela is one of the greatest characters ever brought to life, in a universe that feels so comfortable you forget you’re not actually there. What a ride!! Now I have to wait.
