Publishing evolves. Tools change. Platforms come and go. But some things at Stories Rule Press are non-negotiable.
Story Comes First
Always.
We don’t publish because something fits a trend. We publish because a story works—because it has something to say, and because we believe readers will care. No algorithm decides that for us.
Readers Are Respected
We don’t believe in trickery, pressure tactics, or manufactured urgency. When we offer something:
- We explain what it is
- We explain why it exists
- And we let readers decide
Trust matters more than short-term gains.
Authors Are Partners, Not Products
SRP authors are involved at every stage of their work:
- Editorial decisions
- Production choices
- Marketing strategy
We don’t strip voices down to fit a mold. We help authors tell the stories they set out to tell—well.
Quality Over Volume
We release fewer books than many publishers. That’s intentional. It allows us to:
- Give each book proper attention
- Support authors fully
- Maintain consistent quality across genres
We’d rather do a few things well than many things halfway.
Direct Relationships Matter
Email, Substack, Kickstarter, in-person events—these aren’t “extras” for us. They’re how we stay connected to the people who actually read the books. Stories Rule Press exists because of readers. We don’t forget that.
Growth Will Be Thoughtful
Yes, SRP is growing.
But growth doesn’t mean rushing, overextending, or losing sight of why we started. Every new project is weighed against our core values.
If it doesn’t serve the stories, the authors, and the readers—we don’t do it.

Mark Posey
SRP Author and thriller writer.
Mark writes thrillers for readers who don’t mind a little dirt under the nails — stories with emotional weight, lean prose, and characters who rarely do the right thing for the right reason. His work lives somewhere between noir, revenge fantasy, and literary grit, though he avoids calling it any of those because that sounds like marketing.
When he’s not writing fiction, Mark also works as a professional editor and story consultant. His editing blog offers straight talk for indie and traditionally published authors alike — especially the ones who are tired of being told to “find their voice” by people who can’t define what voice is.
He believes in clarity over cleverness, clean narrative over trend-chasing, and that semicolons are fine, but you probably don’t need as many as you think.
He lives in Canada, which explains the politeness, but not the sarcasm.
You can find him online at MarkPoseyAuthor.com, where he blogs about writing, editing, story structure, and whatever else is on fire this week. His books are published through Stories Rule Press, an independent publisher of genre fiction with strong characters and sharp writing.
