Cameron Cooper was way ahead of the curve writing about a tough as nails mature female lead. Danny Andela is no love sick teenager and sure as anything does not have time for this nonsense - but when universe needs you, a woman of honor steps up does what needs to be done.

I've described Cooper's writing before as sci-fi accessible and enjoyable for people who don't normally read sci-fi. What I mean by that is that while it has a story that features high tech and needs it to make the story work, it doesn't get bogged down into the details of how everything works. If you are looking for the science behind the tech, this might not be your book. If you are looking for a great human interest story with space opera flair and excitement, try this for sure

Book 1 in many ways reads like a mystery thriller as family members work hard to evade capture as they seek to exonerate their family name. Outside forces seem to be anticipating and manipulating their every move, but are these forces for or against them? The science is fun and consistent, it does not delve too far into the minutia and is very accessible for a wide audience.

Book 2 is a galaxy spanning space opera that examines what it is to be human, or perhaps post-human. Danny, her crew, and their unique ship have a problem they are only beginning to understand the depth of. Trouble follows them everywhere and they seem to attract enemies faster than they can keep track of them. They might have some surprising allies too though.

Book 3 is where all the lies and deception, as well as the carefully laid plans all start to unravel and explode (sometimes literally). This is a well crafted story with some serious twists that makes for a read you will not want to put down.

Book 4 was the hardest for me - even though it was a super exciting fast paced read, it felt a little forced to me, like its primary purpose was to set up the grand finale. There is a purpose, and it all makes sense and works by the end, just have to let this one happen and don't question it too much.

Book 5 was an engaging fast-paced read full of adventure, danger, political intrigue and even a little romance. There is conflict on every level making for a rich complex plot. The ending was inevitable, and satisfying - but not completely predictable. Character driven sci-fi in a well build, consistent world that doesn't get bogged down with info dumps explaining the science.
