The Hazeldean Artisan Market—Wait, When?

From SRP author Mark Posey:

So here’s the thing about time: it never does what you want it to.

As I’m writing this, the Hazeldean Artisan Market is this coming Sunday, and I’m really looking forward to it. There’s something about market mornings—the smell of coffee in the air, the murmur of people setting up, the hopeful energy of vendors pretending they aren’t worried about the weather—that always makes me grin.

I’m imagining our table all set up with stacks of books gleaming under the canopy, ready to tempt unsuspecting readers into dark alleys of suspense and adventure. I’m looking forward to catching up with fellow authors and artisans, too. There’s always someone I haven’t seen in forever, someone new doing something clever with resin or leather, and at least one person selling baked goods I absolutely don’t need but will buy anyway.

That’s what’s supposed to happen, anyway.

Except by the time you’re reading this, it’s already happened.

So technically, I’m writing to you from the past about something that’s in your past but my future. Clear as mud, right? I suppose that makes this blog post a paradox—or possibly just proof that I finally broke the space-time continuum trying to keep up with my schedule.

The good news is, I’ve managed to bring back a photo from the future as evidence that the event really did happen. (Insert booth photo here. Try not to stare directly into the temporal anomaly.)

If you were at the market—thank you! It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet new readers. I’m always amazed by how many people love to talk about stories, writing, or how they “keep meaning to start that novel someday.” (Spoiler: you should. The world needs more stories.)

If you weren’t there—well, we missed you! But there will be more markets and events ahead, and I’ll make sure to let you know about them… assuming the timeline holds together long enough for me to post again.

In the meantime, I’ll be unpacking the car, trying to remember where I put the receipt book, and wondering how I managed to get glitter on everything. (Seriously, I wasn’t even near the craft booths this time. It’s a mystery for the ages.)

So here’s to time travel, good company, great coffee, and another market in the books—literally.

—Mark
