Back in the Trenches: Fall From Grace Begins

From SRP author Mark Posey:

I’ve officially broken ground on Fall From Grace, the second book in the Thomas Billings thriller series—and yes, I’m already feeling a little sorry for Thomas and Grace.

When we last saw them in Saving Grace, Thomas had just pulled off the impossible: rescuing Grace Washington, the First Daughter-elect, from a kidnapping that should never have happened in the first place. It was supposed to be over—mission complete, girl saved, credits roll.

But of course, nothing is ever really over.

This time around, the action shifts across the pond to London, England. Thomas and Grace are dragged back into the orbit of the powerful and the dangerous after an audience with the Queen—because apparently, neither of them has learned how to say no to trouble. The Establishment decides it’s time to reassert its authority, and from there, everything goes sideways fast.

There’ll be chases through the streets of London, betrayals in high places, and more than a few moments when Thomas (and maybe Grace) start wondering if the good guys are even still the good guys.

I can’t tell you how good it feels to be back with these two—writing their sharp dialogue, their uneasy trust, and that barely-contained storm that follows them wherever they go. Fall From Grace is already shaping up to be one hell of a ride.

If you haven’t met them yet, now’s the perfect time to start. Read Saving Grace here.

Have a great week!

Mark Posey

SRP Author and thriller writer.

Mark Posey is the author of the award-losing Nun With A Gun thrillers*, a series featuring Sister Jacobine, a nun with a habit of making bad people pay. Readers have called the stories “sharp,” “darkly funny,” and “alarmingly satisfying.” The author calls them “therapy with a body count.”  (*No awards were harmed in the writing of this series.)

Mark writes thrillers for readers who don’t mind a little dirt under the nails — stories with emotional weight, lean prose, and characters who rarely do the right thing for the right reason. His work lives somewhere between noir, revenge fantasy, and literary grit, though he avoids calling it any of those because that sounds like marketing.

When he’s not writing fiction, Mark also works as a professional editor and story consultant. His editing blog offers straight talk for indie and traditionally published authors alike — especially the ones who are tired of being told to “find their voice” by people who can’t define what voice is.
He believes in clarity over cleverness, clean narrative over trend-chasing, and that semicolons are fine, but you probably don’t need as many as you think.

He lives in Canada, which explains the politeness, but not the sarcasm.

You can find him online at MarkPoseyAuthor.com, where he blogs about writing, editing, story structure, and whatever else is on fire this week. His books are published through Stories Rule Press, an independent publisher of genre fiction with strong characters and sharp writing.
