Help Me Decide What to Write Next

From SRP author Mark Posey:

First things first: thank you. Seriously. Every email, review, message, and book you pick up keeps me going, and I don’t take it for granted. You’ve stuck with me through assassins, conspiracies, nuns with guns, and more close calls than I can count. So, let’s make this fun—why don’t you help me choose what comes next?

Here are the three projects currently duking it out in my brain:

  1. The Seventh Sister Jacobine Story (full-length book)
You remember where Alice left off at the end of The Book of Jacobine, right? So far, she’s been running around in short novels and novellas, but she’s ready for her first big girl book. If you’ve been itching for a deeper dive into her world, this might be your pick.
  1. Fall From Grace (the sequel to Saving Grace)
Remember Agent Thomas Billings? Yeah, he’s not done with me yet. This one picks up right where Saving Grace left off, and I can already tell it’s going to get messy—in the best possible thriller way.
  1. Season Two of Credible Threat
Season One was a wild ride, and Season Two promises to blow things wide open. If you liked the high-stakes, multi-threaded storytelling of the first season, then voting for this one is basically voting for more mayhem.

So—what do you want to read next?

Drop a comment below, hit reply if you’re reading this in your inbox, or carrier pigeon me your vote. I’ll tally everything up and whichever project wins, that’s the one I’ll throw myself into first.

Thanks again for reading, for caring, and for making this whole writing gig worth it. You’re the best.

Mark Posey

SRP Author and thriller writer.

Mark Posey is the author of the award-losing Nun With A Gun thrillers*, a series featuring Sister Jacobine, a nun with a habit of making bad people pay. Readers have called the stories “sharp,” “darkly funny,” and “alarmingly satisfying.” The author calls them “therapy with a body count.”  (*No awards were harmed in the writing of this series.)

Mark writes thrillers for readers who don’t mind a little dirt under the nails — stories with emotional weight, lean prose, and characters who rarely do the right thing for the right reason. His work lives somewhere between noir, revenge fantasy, and literary grit, though he avoids calling it any of those because that sounds like marketing.

When he’s not writing fiction, Mark also works as a professional editor and story consultant. His editing blog offers straight talk for indie and traditionally published authors alike — especially the ones who are tired of being told to “find their voice” by people who can’t define what voice is.
He believes in clarity over cleverness, clean narrative over trend-chasing, and that semicolons are fine, but you probably don’t need as many as you think.

He lives in Canada, which explains the politeness, but not the sarcasm.

You can find him online at MarkPoseyAuthor.com, where he blogs about writing, editing, story structure, and whatever else is on fire this week. His books are published through Stories Rule Press, an independent publisher of genre fiction with strong characters and sharp writing.

  1. Mark, you’re killing me. I want to say “ALL THREE” and “NOW!” because I loved all of those characters and wanted more. But I’ve learned that I can’t have all I want, and sometimes do have to make a choice, so I’m going to plunk my dollar down for Fall from Grace. I desperately wanted to know what happened next when I finished Saving Grace, so that’s got my vote. Very happy to know you are back to writing!
