BREAKING POINT By Tracy Cooper-Posey

Breaking Point, the much-anticipated new entry in The Endurance series, is a whopping great yarn. A fascinating, engaging story of human beings in a time far in the future. That alone would keep me reading, but that barely scratches the surface of this many-layered tale. The suspenseful storyline keeps the reader biting their fingernails, unable to put the book down, desperate to know what is going to happen. In addition to all that — and, believe me, there is a whole lot of “all that” — Breaking Point is also an incisive character study. It is good to be gently reminded that having times of little confidence in oneself, or rationalizing that you do not have what it takes to get over the hurdles you are facing, is a common experience and a very human one. The reader can’t help but wonder, as the tension builds and builds: would this be my breaking point? A wonderful entry in this excellent, fully-imagined science fiction series.

What an exciting story set in the fascinating world of The Endurance which I continued to ponder long after finishing the book.

The politics and machinations of those in power buffet the lives of these characters whom we grow to know and love on the Endurance. These main characters were straight talking and flawed but ever so real so that I quickly became invested in their journey.

I was kept on the edge of my seat with anticipation and trepidation after the initial impression that all was going better than expected for an for an unlikely relationship match.

I've read all thirteen books/novellas in the series thus far and continue to be captivated by each and every one of them. With such great variety to each storyline I can highly recommended this latest addition to a wonderful series.

Breaking Point (The Endurance Series 8.0), by Tracy Cooper-Posey, is the latest in this series that encompasses centuries of time on a generational ship. Each story in the series puts you in the midst of the voyage, each successive (time-wise) adventure makes you nostalgic for the previous characters and their interwoven contributions. Every time I read a new book in this epic story, I find myself calling it “my favorite.” So, I guess that makes each one “my favorite”. This one, at the core, is a love story between two driven, lonely people, that plays out against a backdrop of political machinations and intrigue, and the cost to each of the characters is heartbreaking, despite a solid, satisfying ending. I wish Cooper-Posey would reconsider ending this series in three more installments. I know that fertile brain of hers has many, many more stories to tell in this amazing universe. Heavy sigh.
