Hi. Mark here—CEO of Stories Rule Press.
A lot of good changes are coming this year.
Not in a hype-y, “everything is different now” way. More in a we’ve been building quietly, and now it’s time to open the doors a little wider way.
So consider this a guided tour of what’s ahead.
First: this blog exists now (and that’s intentional)
We’ve wanted a central place to talk as Stories Rule Press for a long time—not just about new releases, but about how we think about publishing, editing, selling books, and building a sustainable indie press.
This blog is where we’ll:
- Talk shop without jargon
- Share what’s working (and what isn’t)
- Pull back the curtain just enough to be useful
Think of it as the “office door is open” version of SRP.
A cleaner, smarter SRP store experience
One of our big focuses this year is making the SRP store easier, clearer, and more rewarding to use.
That means:
- Better navigation
- Smarter bundles
- Loyalty rewards that actually feel like rewards
If you’re buying direct from us, we want it to feel like you’re being thanked—not processed.
If you’ve never been to the SRP store, you can find it at https://storiesrulepress.com/
The SRP Starter Library (a proper on-ramp)
We’re formalizing something we already believe deeply in: meeting readers where they are.
The SRP Starter Library will give new readers a no-pressure way to sample multiple authors and genres under our umbrella—then gently guide them to what they might love next.
Free is only useful if it leads somewhere good. This will.
Welcoming a new voice: Morgan Pearce
This year also marks the debut of erotica author Morgan Pearce, and I want to be very clear about what that means.
Morgan writes erotica. Not erotic romance. Not “romance but spicier.” Erotica.
These stories are sex-forward, character-driven, and unapologetically focused on desire, agency, and pleasure. Emotional arcs may exist. Relationships may exist. But the point of the work is erotic exploration, not the guarantee of a happily-ever-after.
We’re treating this launch thoughtfully and deliberately—because erotica deserves the same professionalism, clarity, and respect as any other genre we publish.
It’s an exciting expansion for SRP, and one we’re doing with eyes open and standards intact.
Substack, YouTube, and “hey, this is how we do things”
You’ll be seeing more behind-the-scenes content across Substack and YouTube—less marketing gloss, more real conversation.
What it’s like to edit thirteen books in a series.
How Kickstarters actually work from the inside.
Why some ideas get greenlit and others wait.

Kickstarter as a feature, not a gimmick
Crowdfunding has become a core part of how we launch special projects, not a once-a-year experiment.
That means:
- Better planning
- Better communication
- Better rewards and follow-through
When we ask readers to support something early, we take that trust seriously. The latest Kickstarter is Once and Future Hearts: Full Series Limited Edition Hardcovers at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/storiesrulepress/once-and-future-hearts-full-series-limited-edition-hardcovers
More community, less shouting
Markets. Emails. Blogs. Updates. Conversations.
We’re leaning harder into connection this year—not chasing algorithms, not yelling into the void, but building something that feels human and durable.
If you’ve ever wondered what kind of press we’re trying to be, the short answer is: one you’d want to hang out with.
This blog is part of that.
More soon.
— Mark
